EC financing for cultural heritage in South East Anatolia
Field: Preservation of the cultural heritage in the GAP region (Southeastern Anatolia), also called the Fertile Crescent or Upper Mesopotamia.
Title: Cultural Heritage Development Programme of the GAP Region
Overall objective: To establish the capacity at regional and
national levels to prepare and implement an integrated Cultural
Heritage Strategy in line with EU standards for the GAP Region: To
increase the social and economic benefits for the local population to
be derived from the preservation and exploitation of the region’s
cultural assets
Deadline: June, 25th, 2004
Specific objectives:
- Training for 250 people from different local stakeholders in project designed formulation
- An integrated Strategic Action Plan developed and agreed with the
participation of all stakeholders, which provides a framework for
future policies, plans, programmes and budgets related to the
development of cultural heritage and cultural tourism
Type of actions:
- Inventories related to cultural heritage
- Facilities and materials for promoting cultural heritage (maps, brochures, books,...)
- Restauration/renovation and management of historic sites
- Accomodation and other facilities in historic sites and buildings
- Development and marketing of local handicrafts
- Skills training to build local capacity for the development of cultural heritage and cultural tourism
Location: The GAP Region (Southeastern Anatolia), within the
boundaries of the following provinces: Adiyaman, Batman, Diyarbakir,
Gaziantep, Kilis, Mardin, Siirt, Sanliurfa and Sirnak.
Beneficiaries: SME’s and non-profit organisations
registered/established and/or carrying out operations within the GAP
Region. Partners do not have to be established in the GAP Region.
Max. and min. grants: between 30 000 € and 650 000 €
