EU subsidies in the field of culture - Culture 2000
Title: Culture 2000. Overall Objective: To promote cultural dialogue, the transnational dissemination of culture, cultural diversity, the sharing and highlighting of the common cultural heritage and cultural know-how, intercultural dialogue, recognition of culture as an economic and social factor, and improved access to culture.
Deadline: 15/10/2004 for annual projects, 29/10/2004 for multiannual projects.
NB: a similar but separate call, “preparatory actions for
cooperation on cultural mattersâ€, with similar objectives, has a
closer deadline of 15/9/2004.
Specific objective: this year’s call for proposals will support
annual as well as multi-annual projects in the field of cultural
heritage, the visual arts, the performing arts, actions in the field of
books and readings, as well as the translation of literary works by
European authors after 1950, and particular works written in lesser
used European languages.
Type of actions:
All projects must be submitted by experienced “cultural
operatorsâ€. They should “address the citizen, link tradition and
innovation, or involve the use of new technology. The criteria used for
project selection include the intrinsic quality of the project as well
as an assessment of its “European added valueâ€. Though conditions
vary depending on the type of project submitted, this usually includes
at least that partners in several countries be involved. A small number
of projects may be selected which take place in “third countriesâ€
such as Armenia, and involve a partnership with an EU-based
organisation.
Location: In most cases, the EU, preferably several EU countries.
Beneficiaries: cultural operators (private, non-profit and public)
from EU members states, EEA/EFTA countries , or candidate countries .
Minimum and maximum grants: € 50 000 to € 300 000
