EU subsidies to preserve and commemorate the sites and archives associated with mass civilian extermination

A budget line in support of projects to commemorate crimes against humanity and mass exterminations.

Overall objective: to contribute to the commemoration of crimes of mass extermination of civilians.

Deadline: 10/9/2004

Specific objective: to preserve and commemorate the main sites and archives associated with the deportations, notably through memorials which have been raised on the sites of the former camps and other places of mass-civilian exterminations, and to keep alive the memory of victims at these sites.

Type of actions:
Projects to be supported must contribute to preserve the memory of the millions of victims incarcerated in camps. They must also help explain what happened in these camps, as well as explain why and how this happened.
Location: not specified.

Beneficiaries: non-profit making body and independant, active in the field of culture, with an objective aimed at public good and in particular in the field of culture, registered in one of the E.U.’s Member State and established for more than two years.

Minimum and maximum grants: €10 000 to €40 000.
